Not All On-Call Translation Services Are The Same

What can be even more embarrassing, however, is that many people use incorrect versions of common idioms. That’s because most idioms find their way into a person’s language library after being passed along orally.
If the version of an idiom a person hears for the first time is incorrect in some way (either because the person saying it says it wrong, or because it is not heard correctly) that corrupted version is what will stick in the mind and be repeated later. Good interpreters understand what is going on in this case. Bad interpreters don’t.
One good and frequently cited example is the poorly constructed “for all intensive purposes”. When translated without correction, the meaning is quite different to when the phrase is delivered in its correct form as “to all intents and purposes”.
